TOPO of the Triangle Collaboration Beer

Official Press Release for TOPO of the Triangle Collaboration Beer

TWO TEAMS, TWO CITIES, TWO BREWERIES & 10.8 Miles between them as they get together to offer a collaboration beer that may just turn out to be the bitterest beer in NC.

On FEB 18, 2015, Durham’s Triangle Brewing Co. and Chapel Hill’s Top of the Hill Brewery will be brewing their first ever collaboration brew; A Beer Divided Pale Ale, a special recipe beer, designed and brewed by the owners and brewers. The new Co-Head Brewers’ from Top of the Hill Brewery (Aaron Caracci & Chris Atkins) teamed up with Rick Tufts (Head Brewer from Triangle Brewing Company), to design a recipe for their American-Style Pale Ale. This style of beer is a hop forward Pale Ale with enough malt character to balance out the insane amount of hops added to the kettle. It will measure in at 5.5%abv.

The beer will be brewed at Top of the Hill Brewery on Feb. 18, 2015 the day of the first men’s basketball game of the season between UNC and Duke. The beer will be served approximately 3 weeks later leading up to the tip off of the final regular season game between these rivals. The beer will be available on draft at Top of the Hill Restaurant and Brewery and Triangle Brewing Company’s Pint & Plate, along will a few other select accounts in Chapel Hill and Durham.

In addition to this collaboration beer, the breweries will be participating in a friendly wager on the March 7, 2015 game. The losing team’s brewers and owners will have to guest bartend at their respectful rivals brewpub for an evening of fun and shame.

Wet Hop IPA Release Oct 1

That’s right folks, it is already hop harvest time and we hand picked our Hops at the end of August and brewed with them the next day.  Our hops are grown in Durham and are a Cascade/ Northern Brewer cross.  We add them to the Mash and kettle in heaping doses until they we run out.  Wet Hop’s have not been dried out yet, so they offer a different level of complexity to a beer.  Come join us on Oct. 1 at the Pint & Plate for a special tasting.  $4.00 Pints all day.  Cheers.

It’s Autumn and a Great Time for Beer

Hello all, I trust that this posting finds you ready for some excited events that occur during this wonderful time of year.  Oktoberfests and Pumpkin beers are in full affect (despite hitting the market in July).  Perhaps we should release our Spring Ale next week to be ahead of the curve.  Sorry Sammy A! J/K.  First and foremost, I do not brew Pumpkin beers so we reached out to our Boyz at Big Boss for their Harvest Ale to complement our beer line up at the Pint & Plate.  The Cider Bros. tasty cider is still flowing straight out of Durham. Lunch and dinners are going well, especially our $5 lunch specials from 11-2pm.  Stop by during the week if you haven’t tried it.  Also, Trivia started last week on Weds with the Geeks Who Drink!

Next things on our agenda for the brewery  and tap room is the release of the Wet Hopped IPA, World Beer Festival Durham, and the 8th Annual NC Black Friday Cask Festival.  Tickets are on sale for Black Friday.  Cheers.
